Mag na Mell is a dying land that once was lush and vibrant, even if marred by the countless wars, conflicts, and wild magicks of its inhabitants over the ages. From the clear-cut forests of Carnac to the magick-infused sands of Aegyptus, it has rarely known peace. Each Age has been largely defined by the wars of its time, and deep now do we find ourselves within the Age of Folk.

The nations of Mag na Mell are largely composed of two remaining factions, the Fomorians (monsters), and the Toys; though it would be a mistake to consider them unified in anything other than their outward appearances. It has been nearly two thousand years since the arrival of the New Gods, the two warring entities that have since become the patron deities of the two groups. Generally referred to as the Maker and the Breaker, these two beings have had an immeasurable effect on the cultures and histories of their charges.

But while the spectre of war hangs over most of the land the physical reality of it cannot be everywhere at once, and it is here within these tenuous pockets of normality where life can be found flourishing. Mysterious and fantastical creatures can be found where ancient secrets lie, and in a world shaped by our stories there’s always adventure behind every corner!

The Inhabitants of Mag Na Mell

Due to the limitless nature of human imagination the beings that inhabit this land come in such variety it is almost impossible to categorize them all. The majority of beings in this land are composed of Fomorians and Toys, and while there are dozens of layers and subcultures within those two for now just know that all Player characters will fall into one of those two categories.

Generally speaking, these are the classifications nearly all creatures you encounter during your adventures will fall into:

True Gods

Also known as ‘‘Progenitors’, the two most well known at this point are the Maker and Breaker. While there are suspicions and folklore that allude to there being others, these two are the only known at this moment.

Fay

An ancient race of beings who built the first civilizations in this land, but have since died out and are very rare, mostly considered legends. They are not to be trusted by common folk, as they delight in playing tricks and tormenting those they consider ‘lesser beings’.

Wylder Gods

Incredibly powerful beings that vary in their immensity and are often worshipped by Wylder Cults. These are versions of various gods from human antiquity given body and mind by The Wylder.

Folk

Civilized

  • Most Fomorians and Toys.

Barbarous

  • Fomorians and Toys that have refused their larger societies, either by their nature or their lack of capacity, and live in the frontiers of The Wylder.

Beasts

All of the animals that were naturally from The Wylder, not created by human imagination.
