Artist Notes 1/22/2018: Happy Monday guys! Hope you all are doing well this week! 

I’ve made a small break though in my page production process!  Many times in page descriptions I’ve mentioned being dissatisfied with how the background on pages look, unless I sink A TON of time into them I often feel like there’s a disconnect between the characters and the background, but I think I’ve found a solution, and to a lot of people this is gonna sound incredibly silly (which is sort of the beauty of it to me): It seems the answer is paint the background first.

Literally I think it’s just that it forces me to put a different sort of attention to the backgrounds instead of letting them be an afterthought. ^ ^’ Idk, background and environments just really don’t come naturally–which is a damn shame because I pay a heck of a lot of attention to them when I look at other people’s artwork! I have the utmost respect for people that are good at drawing environments that create a sense of mood… Do any of you have favorite artists that are particularly good at (or specialize in) backgrounds? Comment if you do, I’d love to see!
