Artist Notes 9/23/2020: Hey guys, happy Tuesday!

I’m not even going to touch on my feelings about the state of the world right now–I’m beside myself about it, I simply can’t this week. So I have kind of a goofy story to tell you all this week instead. Let me start off by saying the following was not even remotely a problem… but… my art was stolen recently. XD Again, this is super not a big deal, I actually think it’s funny and a little flattering. This past week I found myself needing to draw some crystals and struggling with it, so I did an image search for “crystal shards” and lo and behold as I’m scrolling along, there in the results is my own art–hosted by a site I’ve never heard of. Now, this site wasn’t profiting off of my work in any way, it was supposed to be a resource site of royalty free images, which is why this isn’t even remotely a big deal.

(And to be clear: I don’t mind people using my artwork at all! Not even a little–as long as they ask me, my answer would be yes pretty much 100% of the time. I’ve always consider my work as falling under creative commons, though, not technically royalty free–and this website did not ask and wasn’t crediting me so I submitted a request for them to take it down.)

BUT in a way it feels like rite of passage having my work stolen. And it was sort of fun and flattering to be looking for reference material and find my own work.
