Artist Notes 7/2/2019: Hey guys, happy Monday! ^ ^’

One important note before I get into anything else: I changed the last panel of last week’s page! I felt like it was a little unclear as a lead in to this page, so definitely check that out, too! ^ ^

Well… the page is black and white again. :< I’m sorry guys… Because of the 4th of July being this week I expect that’s gonna be my chance to catch up. >.>; I’ve officially started a new job, and it’s going really well (though I’ve barely started) but it’s more hours than I’ve ever juggled while working on MNM. I was in college when it started, then I had a variety of part time jobs, enough to support myself but few enough hours that I could devote a lot of time to working on the comic. Tbh, this isn’t that many more hours than I had being a barista (and frankly the work I’m doing is WAY less exhausting than barista-ing/retail/etc). So once I’m sure I’ll get a handle on the rhythm of my schedule soon, and I’ll be back on track. I might change up the release schedule of pages, but I’m hellbent on not slowing the plot down, so you guys might have to bear with putting up black and white pages and then coloring them in bulk for a bit, I haven’t decided exactly what to do yet but I’ll let you know when I decide. I’m leaning toward doing black and white pages for a few weeks, and coloring them all in bulk at the end of every month or something (still in addition to putting up a new page that week). What would you guys think about that? I’d love to hear your input… Do you guys like seeing the black and white pages? Let me know!

…As far as it goes with black and white pages, and just in terms of the necessity of speed in general, I’m really going to push myself on drawing these ones. I feel like I’ve moved a little away from the sketchiness that made the early pages fun, though for that style to work I feel like I have to nail the characters anatomy quickly and not get sucked in to overworking small sections and costume details, more focus needs to be on gesture, action, and the actual point of the scene. So I hope maybe doing black and white first and then coloring a little later might be beneficial for the comic overall. I’m also hoping that will prevent me from coloring in a scramble from 1 am – 4 am every Monday night (which seemed to be the corner I’d back myself in to no matter what) and hopefully that’ll help me improve the color palette, which is something I’ve been really wanting to push more lately, so I’m optimistic. ^ ^’
